Mmmmm, Dragonfly. :)

I spent some time on the "Birds of North America" site [link] and couldn't find the proper name of this thing, so maybe one of you knows. :)

This flycatcher had a nest in the rafters of a house. On route to feeding it's young, it would often land on this stick and check if the coast was clear. I set up a 'trap focus' rig to get such a large capture of it. Basically, you set an A-type manual focus lens to focus on the spot where you expect the subject to appear, then switch the camera to auto focus, continuous mode and use a remote switch to hold down the shutter. Whenever something comes into focus in the spot, the camera automatically takes the pictures! The birds don't mind the camera sitting there making a bunch of noise.
I was making myself a sandwich when this picture was taken. :D
